Post Crash thoughts. What went wrong, in my case I think dead stick on approach to landing, washed off speed turning at 40 metres off the ground, busy sky with plane noise and I did not notice lack of throttle control ( especially as I was slowing for landing approach) until the plane ceased to fly and essentially stalled and rolled into the ground. That particular plane seemed to have slow speed tipstall tenedencies. ( more obvious when you don't have power!!!) POst Crash Radio gear appears OK ( will test fully before new install), Motor seems unharmed ( will test this also) Wings are perfect, not a scratch. Tail section all good. Fusealge/cowling..... totalled!! So after gettinhg home and stripping out all useable parts, I discovered that I could get a new Fuse out of USA for 64$, so I stripped out the tail feathers, harvested any useable bits, and thought ( bugger it) I liked that plane, so on for a rebuild. In my case fortunate that a new not too expensive Fuse was available . ( on it's way now). If it hadnt been then, it would have been another set of wings for the wall of mishaps) What have I learnt, well (1) stuff happens that can be unexpected( 2) no one was hurt (3) didnt hit the house at the end of the strip ( excellent), (4) when you need to land because of fuel issues you should speak up and not hope that one more lap is in the tank, ( 5) learn from my mistake. ( 6) its a long walk there and back.( 7) understanding why it happened makes it easier to process. Certainly gives me a sense of understanding of the fellow modeller, when I see any lovely model go in hard. "Right , back to my shed!!!!!!!!! Is that the courier I hear???" Thanks, Greg

As i was standing next to you the situation at hand was the fact that the sky was busy, perhaps some others issues were a factor because when you initialy wanted to land there were 2 maybe 3 dead sticks which helped contribute to a patient pilots fatal dead stick. This possibly fit under the "stuff happens" catigory.
I find a count down timer works well avaliable from Jaycar. i've set mine so it goes off so i have enough gogo juice for another 3 or so circuts just incase you have to hold off or duff the landing up.
Hope this helps | |

USPS says it is in the country, they are verfy fast. May have it tomorrow. Back out to the shed again, the biggest pain was doing all the cut outs for the Cowl!! I had thought it was going to be overpowered, but the specs say 61 to 91 so a 1.08 is not too over the top. Was flying OK before it went in. Wonder if it may have been a bit back in COG, but I did measure with empty tank and it was OK Sure did start to show signs of elevating as the tank emptied, but was still flying OK Had a great fast roll rate at full dual rates. I'll be ready for it next time!!!! Cheers Greg
