Explanation:

The first line identifies the site.

The second and third lines are the important ones –

SW/6 - 8  =  current wind direction, speed, and maximum gust for last minute

i.e. South-west @ 6 knots average with gusts to 8 knots

            5 – 9  =  average speed and maximum gust during last hour,

i.e. 5 knots average with gusts to 9 knots.

            <       =  trend indicator for last hour, i.e.

< means wind getting stronger,

> means wind getting weaker, 

= means wind about the same.

?m        Visibility in metres. Ours will remain at ?m unless we purchase additional hardware to measure visibility.

Fourth line -

secure   Security feature. We can, if we wish, install break-in

  detectors to activate an alarm call to a specified number.

25C  =  current temperature, i.e.  25º Celsius.

Fifth line –

12.9v  =  battery voltage.

S24    =  Signal strength. Must be over S10 for the modem to work reliably.

            V125  =  Software version.

Crosswind components:

Our airstrip is currently aligned 155º / 335º true, so the best wind directions reported would be NW and SE. Next best are N and S.
